Please note that the latest release of Internet Explorer,
version 8, has difficulties displaying NROCAT. Some searches produce a page
of descriptions where the navigation (Next, Forward 5 and Last) and Details
links do not work. This problem has been identified with:
- all the Set Searches (except Church of England Parishes)
- multi-term searches using the Advanced Search (e.g., AnyText = Diss and CatalogueRef = PD)
- multi-term searches using the Authority Files
The Quick Search page works as normal as will a single-term search using the Advanced Search page (e.g., CatalogueRef = PD 3/61) and the Authority Files (e.g., Place = Diss).
Users of Internet Explorer 6, Internet Explorer 7, Firefox and Opera are not known to experience these problems. Our software supplier has been informed of this unsatisfactory situation but in the meantime, please accept our apologies for the inconvenience.
Alternatives are the Access to Archives site which includes many of the Norfolk Record Office catalogues (though not the probate indexes) and Norfolk Online Access to Heritage which links to the underlying NROCAT database and includes an Advanced Search.
